Someone’s listed 5 uncomfortable truths about living in Metro Manila

Matador Network, a legit social network for world travelers, recently posted a list of what it calls uncomfortable truths about living in Manila.

And who would know that better than someone who’s born and raised in Baguio and now lives in Metro Manila, right? There’s nothing like a fresh pair of eyes to tell you the their truth.

Rina Diane’s list is not something we haven’t heard of before — traffic, pollution and high-density — but it still stings. She also talks about Manila’s poverty that the government tries to hide from its important visitors, and a 2014 survey that listed Manila as the second riskiest city for business.

On Matador Network’s Facebook page — which has almost 700,000 followers — travelers posted mixed reaction toward the article.

Some agreed with the author, others went on the defense. “I am Manileño and these reports don’t make me proud at all. Truth is, these are the things we really have to work on,” admitted Dovicon delos Santos.

Others saw the good side of the big, bad city.  “And yet… Also the friendliest place I have ever visited. Places with contradictions are the most interesting,” wrote Matt Lockwood from United Kingdom.
