A simple “yes” or “no” will do.

“After announcing that his presidential bid is now on the table, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Mon, Nov 23, expressed his lack of interest in joining debates with other aspirants for the country’s top post,” reports Trisha Macas on GMA News Online.

Duterte told reporters: “Ayaw ko makipag-debate sa kanila. Debate-debate wala namang nangyayari diyan (I don’t want to engage in debates with them. Nothing happens in those debates).”

However, Duterte added, “Pero kung pilitin nila ako, OK lang (But if they force me to join debates, it’s OK). We’ll talk about everything under the sun.”

Duterte pointed out that his “platform is clear, with focus on eradicating crime, illegal drugs, and corruption.”

The report noted: “Duterte previously said that he never wanted to become the president of the Philippines. However, he said he changed his mind when the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) voted to junk the disqualification case against presidential aspirant Senator Grace Poe in relation with her citizenship.”
