Let the holiday retail extravaganza begin!
Starting Dec 1, 2015 until Jan 3, 2016, the following establishments will operate from 10am to 11pm:
- Shangri-La Plaza
- SM Mall of Asia
- Robinsons Galleria
- Walter Mart
- Forum Robinsons
- Gateway Mall
- Farmers Plaza
- SM Megamall
- Greenfield Development Corporation
- Eastwood City
- Ayala Center Estate Association
- The Podium
- SM North EDSA
- SM Makati
- ETON Centris
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Emerson Carlos said these mall operators unanimously agreed to their proposal of extending hours.
“This has been a yearly practice for us to sign this agreement in order to ease vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the holiday season,” he said in a statement.
However, Carlos admits that the adjusted mall hours will not directly reduce traffic, but aims to spread out traffic in a bigger window of time as people won’t need to rush out of malls before 9pm.
MMDA and mall owners have also agreed to coordinate during special events like promotions, earthquake drills and sale.
Carlos reminded the mall operators to inform MMDA of these special events to allow the agency to adjust traffic schemes in the affected areas.
