During the Top 5 round of the Miss Universe pageant, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was asked what she thought of American bases returning back in the Philippines.
She answered as any beauty pageant contestant would: How Philippines was once an American colony, how there were American bases here before, how the two countries have always had good relations, and so no. She didn’t mind having them back.
Her niceties didn’t sit well with a few politicians. On Twitter, former congressman Teddy Casiño said, “she should’ve acknowledged that there are problems that have to be addressed re. US bases in the PH.”
Which in turn, didn’t sit well with comedienne Ethel Booba. Surprisingly, Ethel slammed Casiño with some very real talk: “It’s your job in congress and you have more than 30 seconds to do that. Charot!”
She may have that “charot” as a disclaimer, but it is a surprising and very welcome real talk from you, madame! Kudos!
