John Arcilla is Best Actor nominee in 10th Asian Film Awards

Veteran actor John Arcilla continues to win accolades for playing his breakout role of Gen. Antonio Luna in Jerrold Tarog’s 2015 surprise box-office hit Heneral Luna.

Arcilla just earned a Best Actor nomination at the 10th Asian Film Awards, which according to Philstar Global’s Celso de Guzman Caparas, is dubbed as the “Oscars of Asia”.

Arcilla is competing against Asian actors Donnie Yen for Ip Man 3 (Hong Kong), Masatoshi Nagase for An (Japan), Feng Xiaogang for Mr. Six (Mainland China) and Lee Byung-hun for Inside Men (South Korea).

The historical biopic, which depicts Gen. Luna’s leadership of the Philippine Revolutionary Army during the Philippine-American War, also earned nominations in the Best Costume Design category for Carlo Tabije and Best Production Design category for Tabije and Benjamin Padero.

The awarding ceremony will be held on March 17 at The Venetian in Macau.
