Duterte defends ‘kissing spree’: What does it have to do with graft and corruption?

Last Fri, Feb 5, presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte kissed his female supporters in a political sortie in San Fernando, Pampanga. Reports said that “at least two women” were recipients of Duterte’s kiss.

At that time, Duterte was quoted as saying, “Dito lang ako nakahalik ng maraming lips to lips. Tapos, may isang kandidato, sabi niya, ‘Ito si Duterte, napaka-dumi. Lahat ng babae hinahalikan.’ Kita mo mga utak, walang libog kasi (This is the only place where I kissed so many [women] on the lips. One candidate has said, ‘This Duterte, he’s dirty. He kisses a lot of women.’ That’s how people talk when they have no libido).”

Duterte’s critics, of course, slammed his “kissing spree” as a crass move that was not suitable for a presidentiable. They noted that the women whom he had kissed seemed to be “forced.”

“On Mon, Feb 8, when he was at an event in Tarlac, Duterte defended himself from negative comments for his so-called ‘kissing spree,'” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Duterte was quoted as saying, “What does kissing have to do with graft and corruption?” He then said that what he did was simply part of his character.
