Duterte is OK after migraine attack that forced him to cancel appearance

On Thu, Feb 11, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was supposed to speak before the members of the Philippine Society of Hypertension and Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

“However, Duterte was forced to cancel his appearance due to a migraine attack,” reports Alexander D. Lopez in Manila Bulletin.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Duterte’s running mate, stepped in for him

In the wake of questions about Duterte’s health, his aide Christopher “Bong” Go said in a statement that the mayor is fine.

In a separate statement to the media, Duterte’s media bureau chief Peter Tiu Laviña reiterated that the mayor only suffered from migraine.

Laviña said, “After his weeklong sorties in Tarlac, Metro Manila, and Tuguegarao, our presidential candidate Rody Duterte felt ill yesterday and had migraine. He had to skip his meeting with doctors in Ortigas, as he was advised to take a rest.”

He added, “Duterte has been very frank and open about his health. He had gone to [many locations] over a year in his Listening Tour and leading to this campaign and he has exhibited high spirits and good health in spite of the rigors of these road trips. This is clear proof of this ability and capability health-wise to continue on in his quest for genuine change for a better life for our fellow Filipinos here and abroad.”
