Worms found inside can of beef loaf bought from Cebu City supermarket

Eddie Dinapo bought a can of beef loaf from a supermarket in Cebu City and didn’t expect that he’d get a nasty surprise when he opened it.

He literally opened a can of worms!

Dinapo told GMA News that he was not even done opening the can of beef loaf when he noticed that something was moving inside it.  Dinapo then had a family member take a video of him as he continued to open the can.

Indeed, Dinapo’s worst suspicion was confirmed when, upon close inspection, he saw that a mass of worms was inside the can.

Dinapo said they really didn’t expect the worms to be in the can, as the expiration date indicated for the beef loaf was Jan 2019.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries of Cebu City is now investigating the incident. One of their first moves is to write to the management of the mall where the beef loaf was purchased so they would find out who the product distributor is.

However, they have not yet informed the manufacturer of the beef loaf about the incident.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has warned the public against comsuming spoiled canned goods. They said that the bacteria called clostridium botulinum usually contaminate the food. It causes diarrhea, fever, vomitting, and other food poisoning symptoms.
