7 top 24-hour restaurants in Metro Manila

When most of the metro is deep in slumber it can be a challenge to find a good meal to put your nighttime cravings to sleep. Put that fast food delivery menu down and head out to the empty streets for a good meal. The traffic free roads and quiet restaurants will almost negate those sinful calories before bed.

Handlebar Bar and Grill

Just around the corner from the dodgy bits of Padre Burgos is this American 24-hour bar and grill which is also the home of the Mad Dog Motorcycle Club. The daylight hours find this spot more relaxed and food-focused, shelling out dishes like Philly Cheese Steak (PHP357), Sizzling Fajitas (PHP395), and Clam Chowder (PHP130). But come nightfall, this spot revs up and gets rowdy with live rock music and drink specials. 31 Polaris Street, Bel Air, Makati; +63 2 8982189, www.facebook.com/handlebarmanila.

The Bowery

Taking a page from the city that never sleeps is The Bowery, a New York-themed cafe which serves up “NYC comfort food” all hours of the day. The menu, however, is filled with broad strokes of Western cuisine like burgers, sandwiches and salads, missing out on some of the more authentic Big Apple eats of pizza and pastrami sandwiches. Either way, they’ve got a strong brunch and breakfast menu as well as a late night menu which includes the lavish Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese (PHP1,200) and the Bowery Burger (PHP890) made with a juicy wagyu blend patty, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pickled red onions, and a brioche bun.
