Catch the works of Steve McCurry and other renowned photographers at Ayala Museum

Every once in a while, it’s nice to take a break from the Instagram world, and look at photos of renowned photographers who are truly skilled at what they do.

No filter can match the passion and intensity in their works. No caption can be as deeply thought provoking as their subjects.

The World We Live In is a photography exhibit that will allow you to see the world through the lens of five contemporary photographers.

Sebastian Salgado and Steve McCurry will shed a new light to globalization and conflict with their photojournalistic style of capturing images.

Steve McCurry is best known for his photograph, the green-eyed Afghan girl portrait which was used in the cover of National Geographic in 1985. Since then, he has travelled extensively to cover the essence of human struggle. For the exhibit, he will display photos shot in Lebanon, Afghanistan, India, Turkey and the Philippines.

Sebastian Salgado has travelled to over one hundred countries to cover the bleakest moments in history. He currently focuses on capturing images that demonstrate the impacts of glabalization to mankind. On display are his works from his Workers series, which he began in the eighties. It captures pictures of manual laborers from different countries at work.

Robert Polidori concentrates on photographing images of building interiors and exteriors. He has shot all over the world. His most interesting pieces are the urban dwellings in Dubai and China, the Palace of Versailles in France and the courtyards bearing traces of war in Beirut. For this exhibit, his work on the decaying mansions in Havana, Cuba will be featured.
