WATCH: Switchfoot surprised Tondo residents with a street concert

While there are people who would gladly pay thousands of pesos to watch Grammy-winning artists, a Tondo community got to enjoy good music at no cost.

There was no stage but there was good music and an appreciative audience as American band Switchfoot surprised Tondo with a performance on the street.

A photo and video of the performance were posted on the Facebook page of Church Simplified, the same organization which invited the group to the country.

The band is known for songs like “Dare you to Move” (from a Walk to Remember!) and “Meant to Live”.  They had a show at the Bonifacio High Street on Sunday, Mar 27.

The Tondo performance might be for a music video. Jon Foreman, the band’s frontman, announced that they will shoot a music video during their stay in the country.

Jon also posted about his concert experience. “Manila. Wow. Thanks for singing these songs with us last night,” he said on an Instagram post.

Thank you Young Focus for graciously hosting us. Switchfoot had an amazing time playing for the community and meeting the kids. #SwitchfootInManila #SwitchfootatWalkway #ChurchCanBeSimple
