Pinay beauty queen Gwen Ruais eliminated from ‘Asia’s Next Top Model’ cycle 4

They are no longer in the running: Filipina models Gwendoline Ruais and Alaiza Malina exit the fourth season of “Asia’s Next Top Model” on Wed, Mar 30.

Gwendoline was eliminated from the competition after receiving the lowest score during the fourth episode’s elimination challenge, while Alaiza decided to quit the show voluntarily.

This leaves 25-year-old Julian Flores as the only Filipina in this season’s “Asia’s Next Top Model.” The past three seasons of the show have named Filipina runners-up, but the win remains elusive.

If the name Gwendoline Ruais rings a bell, it’s because the 25-year-old Pinay model-celebrity was Miss World 2011 first runner-up (the country’s highest placement in the pageant before Megan Young’s win in 2013). In fact, she was criticized in the show being too “pageant girl” (a big no-no in the Top Model world) by the show’s judges.

In an Instagram post after her elimination, Gwendoline said: “Yes I AM a beauty queen. And I’m very proud of it! And no one can change me, they just have to accept that.”

We’re still proud of you, Gwen and Alaiza. And Julian, win that title for us, please?
