When he ran for President in 1998, actor-turned-politician Joseph “Erap” Estrada did not attend a single debate event. Nevertheless, he was elected as President. So, is it really a big surprise that he’s still skipping debates now that he’s running for reelection as mayor of Manila?
“Estrada was a no-show in the debate with fellow mayoralty candidates at the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila on Wednesday, April 6,” reports ABS-CBN News.
Only former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing showed up at the UP Manila campus.
UP Manila revealed that they had issues an invitation to Estrada as early as March 12. However, Estrada’s staff said that the debate was not in the incumbent mayor’s schedule.
