Chiz ignores comments on his ‘robotic’ tone

Has Senator Chiz Escudero always spoken in the same manner or is his now-infamous tone a recent development?

During the first and only debate featuring candidates for Vice President at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila on Sun, Apr 10, a lot of people were wondering why Escudero was speaking in monotone.

“Some people even described Escudero’s tone as ‘robotic,'” reports Maila Ager on Inquirer.net.

While he was at a campaign sortie in San Pedro, Laguna, Escudero answered the question about his tone by saying, “Mula’t mula ng pumasok ako sa pulitika, ‘yan naman din ang sinasabi. Pero mula’t mula, ito pa rin naman ang narating at naabot ng aking karera sa pulitika (Since I joined politics, that’s what everyone has been saying. Despite that, I’ve done what I could with my political career).”

The report noted: “Asked if he was offended by the bashing on social media, he said any politicians who take offense to any criticisms during elections should not be in politics in the first place.” The senator added that he “would rather be criticized over his manner of speaking than be called a theft or stupid.”

Meanwhile, a Facebook post by user Mar Capistrano has gone semi-viral for its humorous take on Escudero’s manner of speaking.
