Ateneo de Manila High School may soon have a 6’9″ player in its basketball varsity team.
His name is Kai Sotto, son of former PBA player Ervin (6’5″), who is now with Byaheng SCTEX of the Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League.
Kai is currently enrolled in St Francis of Assisi College in Las Piñas but took the entrance exam at Ateneo yesterdray.
“May usapan na po kami, kailangan na lang pong ipasa yung test,” the 13-year-old, who has been interested in basketball since he was three years old, told ABS-CBN Sports.
Sotto told ABS-CBN that he was also approached by both De La Salle Zobel and La Salle Greenhills. Asked to comment, Ateneo Blue Eaglets mentor Joe Silva said, “We will comment at the right time.”
An earlier version of this report said Kai Sotto stood at 6’7″, we were wrong, he’s taller by 2 inches.
