Kris Aquino on presidential chopper issue: ‘Pwede bang ipagtanggol n’yo ako?’

Kris Aquino, who has taken a break from her media commitments and is now helping campaign for the Liberal Party, asked voters in Bulacan yesterday to defend her on social media.

“I have been attacked on social media. They have accused the Aquino family of abusing our power by using the presidential chopper to campagin for the elections,” she said in Filipino during a campaign rally in Bulacan on Apr 22. “Pwede bang ipagtanggol n’yo ako? (Can you please defend me),” she said

The 45-year-old television host, dubbed “Queen of All Media” in the Philippines, said she had to walk three kilometers to reach the campaign site in Hagonoy, Bulacan.

Her security convoy, she said, couldn’t believe it when she asked them to start walking because she doesn’t want to keep the people waiting for her. “Narinig ko si Leni Robredo ay nagsalita na. Sabi ko, ‘Hindi puwedeng paghintayin ko kayo’,” she told the crowd.

On Tue, Apr 19, Kris was slammed online after a report said she rode in the presidential helicopter with her brother, President Noynoy Aquino. They attended the inauguration of a 59-megawatt solar power plant in San Carlos City, but were later seen at a Liberal Party campaign sortie in Argao and Dalaguete in southern Cebu.
