So you want to make a film? Cinemalaya Institute is offering 3 workshops to help you!

It’s not easy to make a name in the film industry. Even those who already have a degree in film may find themselves having difficulties getting their foot in the door.

If you want a little push to help you get that film project going, you might want to attend these workshops organized by Cinemalaya Institute, the training arm of Cinemalaya. You can get inspiration from professors from the New York Film School and the London Film School.

They’re offering three workshops: screenwriting, film editing and directing.

Film school professor Sophia Wellington will teach a course on Writing the Feature-length Screenplay, on May 24-July 2. It’s ideal for those who want to learn the ropes of plotting, visual storytelling, scene writing and dialogue.

On June 6 to July 1, 2016, freelance editor John Hammond will teach a a four-week Film Editing Class. The areas to be explored are editing fiction, making the cuts, structure, dramatic point of view, editing dialogue scenes, montage sequences, action sequences and transitions, linear time, non-linear time and alternative realities  and others.

Award winning director Carlos Siguion-Reyna will facilitate a workshop called Basic Filmmaking: The Silent Film on May 24 to July 2. The six-week course is meant to give students the basic tools and conventions for film directors.

Venue for the editing course will be at the Central Digital Lab while the Screenwriting and Directing courses will be held at the Shooting Galleries, both in Makati City.
