Gerald Anderson says it’s ‘surreal’ to work with ex-gf Bea Alonzo

This guy is on a roll.

Gerald Anderson is slated to headline two major projects this year after the success of his Valentine’s Day movie, Always Be My Maybe. He will be on an ABS-CBN TV series titled Because You Love Me with Yen Santos and Jake Cuenca, and a yet-to-be titled movie for Star Cinema.

The 27-year-old actor will be paired for the first time with Bea Alonzo in the movie.

And in case you didn’t know: Gerald and Bea were a couple back in 2010, right after the actor and then onscreen partner Kim Chiu ended their relationship.

Bea, in an interview with YES! magazine in 2013, described her relationship with Gerald as a “summer romance.”

“First time namin magkakasama which makes it more exciting kasi, you know, pangarap ko yun. Bata pa lang ako, pinapanood ko [na] siya,” Gerald told Coconuts Manila at a press conference for Because You Love Me yesterday, explaining that he was very excited to work with Bea for the first time since he’s been a fan of hers from the time he was young.

Although they are only one-year apart (Bea is 28), Gerald didn’t enter showbiz until 2006 while Bea started her career in 2002.

“Can you imagine how I feel? This a very surreal moment in my life,” he added.

In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN, Gerald and Bea did say it feels weird and awkward to be working with each other, but only because it’s the first time they’ll be working together on a movie.

Both are reportedly single now, so expect showbiz reporters to ask them later on if there is a chance they’d reconcile as a couple.

In any case, during our interview, Gerald said he doesn’t see being in a relationship as a hindrance to his career. It all depends on your priorities in life, he said, because what you desire is what you attract.

“Naniniwala na ako na kung ano ang ginagawa mo at iniisip mo, na-aattract mo,” he said. “So [if your] priority is career, you can have a great career. If [your] priority is love life, mag-asawa, magkaroon ng pamilya, magkakaroon ka ng pamilya. It all depends [on what you want].”

If only if were that simple for the rest of us!
