In politics, there’s no such thing as BFF.
With 10 days remaining before the country’s most heated national elections, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte dropped a major bombshell that could affect the standing of his rival, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
At a lunch meeting with Cavite government officials in Pasay City today, Duterte announced that he now has the support of Cavite Governor Jonvic Remilla — Binay’s former ally.
“Jonvic, the [outgoing] governor, we have forged an alliance to support each other now and after the elections kung ipagpala ako ng Diyos,” Duterte was quoted by GMA News Online.
Remulla, who is closely associated with Binay and even served as the spokeperson of his party United Nationalist Alliance until 2014, refused to grant an interview with the media after the meeting,
Remulla’s support Duterte could benefit the Davao Mayor immensely. Cavite is a vote-rich province with 1.84 million voters, according to the Inquirer.
