Renato Corona, impeached Chief Justice, dies at 67

Former Chief Justice Renato Corona died at 1:48am on Fri, Apr 29. He was 67. Corona, who was the Supreme Court’s 23rd Chief Justice, succumbed to a heart attack.

Corona was appointed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo just before her term ended in 2010.

He was impeached by the House of Representatives on Dec 12, 2011, and tried by the Senate, which found him guilty on May 29, 2012, of failing to fully declare his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.
