Robin Thicke won’t make it to Manila music festival this Saturday

Sorry, Manila. Robin Thicke won’t be performing “Blurred Lines” for you this weekend.

The American singer announced on Thu, Apr 28, that he won’t be coming to Manila for this Saturday’s Summer Sun Music Festival after all.

In a video posted on the Facebook page of the music fest, Robin said he had an unexpected knee surgery and was advised by his doctor “not to travel right now.”

“Hello Manila, Robin Thicke here. I feel so bad. I have to apologize for not being able to make the show. I’ve had an unexpected knee surgery and due to complications, I’ve been advised by my doctor not to travel right now,” he said. “I can’t wait to be back out there. I’ll be back out there soon. Lots of love. Thank you.”

Robin was billed as the headlining act of the Summer Sun Music Festival, which will be held at the Globe Circuit Events Ground in Makati City. The singer even promoted the event on his social media accounts just a week ago.

Nonetheless, the music fest is pushing through. Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grand and local acts Marc Marasigan, Nina Saputil, and Jokko Jiminez, among others, will be performing.

A third ticket category called “early bird-patron” was introduced last night for PHP800. There were originally only two tiers, early bird VIP for PHP3,799 ad early bird patron for PHP2,299.

It is not clear if the concert organizers will be refunding tickets for those who may not want to attend now that Thicke is not part of the lineup.

Robin, best known for his 2013 hit song “Blurred Lines,” was also scheduled to perform in Manila last May for the Dream Fields Music Festival, but the event was cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

Third time’s the charm, maybe?
