‘They allowed an American and a serial killer to run for President…why not me?’

Retired Army Col. Justino Padiernos of the People’s Freedom Party hasn’t given up the fight for his right to run for President. Other people may call this insanity, but this what we call dedication.

Padiernos — whom the Commission on Elections (Comelec) had declared as a nuisance presidential candidate — wants the May 9 elections postponed since the legal questions of disqualified candidates like him have not been resolved.

“They allowed a candidate who is American and also another one who is a serial killer. How come they won’t allow me to run when I have served this country,” he argued.

“Representing Padiernos is Manuelito Luna, who is also the lawyer of former senator Francisco Tatad in questioning the presidential candidacy of Sen Grace Poe,” reports Edu Punay in The Philippine Star.

Padiernos said that if the elections are postponed, then members of Congress should be allowed to elect the next president. “Of course, I should be included among the choices,” he said.
