Actress Karel Marquez is now engaged!
In an Instagram post on Sat, May 7, Karel announced that her boyfriend, businessman Sean Fariñas, proposed to her while they were on vacation in Negros Occidental.
The 29-year-old actress first shared on social media that Fariñas suddenly asked her to join him in a sunset cruise on Fri.
“I don’t know where I am going but I believe this is a sunset cruise? I wish I was properly dressed though. I even forgot my shades. Haha! Biglang hinila nalang ako,” she shared.
Hours later, Karel revealed the good news.
“Now that I have told my family and friends… I guess I could breathe now (I cried so much during sunset) and I guess we are going to tell this to the universe of course… WE GOT ENGAGED TODAY,” she said.
Karel and Sean became a couple in December 2012. She has two children with ex-boyfriend Armand de Guzman.
In a separate Instagram post, Karel thanked Sean for loving her and her children “even if you did not have to.”
“You chose to love me the first time we met, a time when I was at my worst. Look at us now.
“We are raising the kids well and I cannot thank you enough for being my partner.
“For the past 5 years, I have never felt so safe, loved, and treasured like a rare gem.
“I have been through so much. The rock bottom kinda pain. I was reminded by God that nothing worth having comes easy and He won’t give me all the trials if I couldn’t handle it — but I did — and I stood stronger than ever. I found my soulmate,” she said.
