With a lead of more then five million votes more than his nearest rival, Mayor Rodirgo Duterte is poised to win the elections.
The country is wondering how he would rule the land should he make it.
On Mon night, May 9, Duterte revealed the names of people who will make up his Cabinet. Some played key roles in the Duterte campaign for presidency.
As finance secretary, Duterte plans to appoint his childhood friend Carlos Dominguez. Dominguez is a former Cabinet secretary of Corazon Aquino and Fidel V. Ramos. He was also the former president of Philippine Airlines and Manila Hotel. He was the finance head in Duterte’s campaign.
Duterte said he might also appoint Dominguez as head of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
“Ang pinaka-corrupt (na government agency) ang problema ko. Pinaka-corrupt ang DOTC,” (The most corrupt agency is my problem. The most corrupt is DOTC) Duterte told Inquirer.
As presidential peace advisor, Duterte plans to appoint Jesus Dureza (one of MNLF founder Nur Misuari’s choices for president), a former Cabinet secretary of Corazon Aquino and Fidel V. Ramos.
For his other Cabinet members, Duterte said that he might appoint military men.
“I want military men. Most of them will occupy lower echelons,” he said.
Duterte said his campaign manager Leoncio Evasco will stay beside him.
The name of Butch Ramirez came up, but his role remains unclear.
