A lot of names are being thrown into the race for the much-coveted role of Darna in the upcoming Star Cinema movie — among them Jessy Mendiola, Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, and Arci Muñoz.
Well, apparently, one more actress is the running for the role: new ABS-CBN talent Ritz Azul.
Entertainment Ricky Lo in, citing unnamed sources, revealed on Tue, May 10, on The Philippine Star hatRitz is the “most likely” to bag the role.
Lo even quoted his sources, who said Ritz is “now undergoing through training.”
It might be refreshing to have a relatively fresh-faced Darna. And the 22-year-old actress — who paid her dues as an artist at TV5 for almost five years — is deserving of a breakthrough role.
But will Star Cinema really give the prized Darna role — the one that shot Angel Locsin shot to superstardom and cemented Marian Rivera’s status as GMA-7’s most prized talent years ago — to an ABS-CBN newcomer?
Stranger things have happened. All we can do now is wait and see who gets to be the new Darna.
