Change is coming, indeed. Presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is considering a ban on liquor sales and loud karaoke use nationwide, as well as a curfew for minors starting 10pm.
According to his spokesperson Peter Laviña, the mayor wants to replicate a Davao City ordinance that prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages from 1am to 8 am.
“We have to work the next day, all the waiters, the staff of the restaurants and hotels have to work, as well as the customers,” he said. Dear call center people who finish work in the wee hours of the morning — suck it up.
Duterte is also eyeing a nationwide curfew for minors starting 10pm — for unescorted minors.
“The curfew is principally for minors, unescorted minors past 10pm. It does not bar minors with their parents and their guardians,” Laviña said. “This is to make sure that our children are in their homes or sleeping already to prepare for the next day school,” he added.
The other plan revealed in an interview on May 10 — Duterte may impose a ban on loud karaoke starting 9pm. Yeah, we can get behind that!
According to Laviña, these three measures may be adopted nationwide after consultation with concerned parties. With reports from ABS-CBN News and ANC.
