With the long-running feud between the Marcoses and the Aquinos, people often forget the time when two of their members got chummy on national TV.
A video clip of Kris Aquino interviewing Bongbong Marcos in the defunct talk show Actually…’Yun Na! on RPN-9 back in 1995 is making the rounds on social media.
They had a casual chat about (of all things!) Martial Law and their fathers.
In the clip, Kris tells Bongbong, “The reason my dad was in jail was because of your dad. But then I remember of course na your mom is very nice to my dad nung nagka-heart attack ang daddy ko at ang mommy mo ang nag-facilitate na makapunta kami sa Amerika.(But then I remember of course, that your mom was ery nice to my dad when my dad had a heart attack, she was the one who facilitated for us to go to America).”
To which Bongbong replied with a story about their fathers’ friendship.
“Brad, bakit mo naman ako kinukulong? (Brother, why do you allow me go to jail?),” Ninoy supposedly asked Ferdinand Marcos when they saw each other. “Brad kung ikaw ba nasa posisyon ko, hindi mo ba gagawin? (Brother, if you were in my position, won’t you do the same?),” the elder Marcos supposedly replied.
Kris’ brother is now the outgoing president of the Philippines, while Bongbong is vying for vice presidency.
