Graduating student nabbed for extorting PHP30K from classmates in sex video

This guy was trying to think of creative ways to make money before graduation, but unfortunately, he chose to take the illegal route.

A 22-year-old graduating student from Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) in Silang town in Cavite was arrested for threatening to leak a copy of his classmates’ sex video taken during a recent class retreat in Batangas. He was caught in an entrapment operation arranged by the police on Mon night, May 16.

Senior Superintendent Christopher Birung said that the suspect was arrested in a mall in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, while claiming the extortion money from a money transfer outlet, ABS-CBN News reports.

Two of the suspect’s classmates went to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame last week to seek help.

Using an anonymous Facebook account, the suspect allegedly asked for PHP30,000 in exchange for the sex video. He threatened to leak the video on social media.

In coordination with the money transfer service and the police, the victims sent PHP300 pesos to the anonymous Facebook user.

The suspect was charged with violations of Photo and Video Voyeurism law and robbery with extortion.

Police said they have yet to identify who took the video.
