The Chocolate Kiss Cafe opens in UP Town Center’s Urban Turf

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — The Urban Turf, UP Town Center’s new student-friendly wing, officially opened on May 19 and one of its must-visit tenants is Chocolate Kiss Cafe, the 20-something restaurant that first opened at the University of the Philippines Bahay ng Alumni Center.

It is neighbors with other establishments like Rodic’s (the tapsilogan place from UP Shopping Center), Friuli Trattoria (known for pizza and pasta), and Hey Kessy! (a craft store).

“We decided it would be good [transitioning] from the campus-based café to a mall, since it will not be a typical mall,” explains CKC founder and co-owner Maline Apelo-Flores.

“We’re also doing our best to carry over key elements of the original branch to the new one, because, many of them worked,” adds Ina Flores-Pahati, CKC’s chief operating officer.

For the uninitiated, CKC’s best-selling cakes are the Devil’s Food Cake, Dayap Chiffon Cake and Sans Rival.

#272-274 UP Town Center, Katipunan Ave, Bgy Loyola Heights, Diliman, Quezon City; +63 2 9463276, Facebook. Daily 11pm-9pm.
