To have an effective family planning program under his administration, incoming President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed interest in implementing a three-child policy in the Philippines.
A similar strategy is being used in other countries in need of population control.
Duterte did not expound on his plans but he said that he is thinking about it, CNN Philippines reports.
In spite of strong opposition from the Catholic Church, Duterte is determined to push for family planning.
According to the latest Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Philippine population has now reached 100.98 million in 2015 — 8.4 million more than in 2010 when the national census was last conducted.
Duterte earlier revealed that his plans for the country include restroring death penalty and imposing a nationwide curfew.
