Never again: Jollibee wants to make sure #ChickenSad won’t return

In our country’s history, we’ve said “never again” to a lot of things that’s come back to haunt us — such as politicians.

We’re not about to dissect why history likes to repeat itself in our country. However, we’re happy to tell you that, in the case of Jollibee at least, there is one thing that will “never again” happen.

In 2014, the fastfood joint ran out of Chickenjoy in 2014. The official reason was a “systems upgrade.” It is now making sure that there won’t be a repeat of that tragic incident.

“Jollibee Foods Corp. announced that it has partnered with US-based Cargill Inc.’s local unit to build a poultry processing plant. Jollibee will invest PHP244.9 million for a 30% stake in the plant in Sto. Tomas, Batangas province south of Manila. Cargill will hold the remaining 70% share in the facility,” reports ABS-CBN News.

In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Jollibee CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong said, “The facility will provide JFC with dressed and marinated chicken to augment the chicken supply requirements of the growing need of JFC brands.”

Chickenjoy crisis? Never again.
