2 hurt from tower crane collapse in Bel-Air, Makati

It pays to be more careful when you’re near a construction site — or avoid it completely if possible.

A tower crane that was being used in the construction of a building on Dela Costa Street in Barangay Bel Air, Makati City, collapsed sometime around 8am on Thu, May 26.

“The crane hit an electric pole, which subsequently fell on a taxi and another vehicle. Injured in the incident were taxi driver Ramon Romeroja and Romeo Lopez, who was just passing by the area when the crane collapsed. They were immediately brought to the hospital,” reports Erwin Aguilon on Inquirer.net.

The construction company, A.M. Oreta & Co., Inc., immediately released a statement to apologize for the incident. They said they would shoulder the medical expenses of the two injured men.

The report noted: “The construction company said that they are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crane’s collapse.”
