OFW’s bag ransacked, worth PHP10K items stolen at NAIA-1

This is not the kind of homecoming that anyone wants.

Architect Dennis Silades, 30, who works in Saudi Arabia was shocked and angry when he recently came home to Manila after his luggage was found to have been ransacked.

Silades told TV Patrol that he suspects his luggage was looted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1. He recalled that he had waited 30 minutes before his bag came through the conveyor belt.

When he got home, he saw that some of his bag’s contents were already gone. Aside from some of his pants and jackets, two watches and some chocolates were also taken. Silades said the items that went missing amounted to PHP10,000.

Silades said he called up the airport later in an attempt to get help from airport personnel. However, he said he was just given the run-around. Later, NAIA-1 manager Dante Basanta told ABS-CBN News that Silades had to file a complaint at their office.

Silades has given up on the case as his vacation time is limited.

NAIA has long been criticized for the various scams that have thrived in it. For now, people live with the threat being victimized by various scammers as they go through the airport.
