Chef Claude Tayag’s bringhe wins people’s choice award in Embassy Chef Challenge

It was the first time for the Philippines to join the Embassy Chef Challenge. With his mouthwatering bringhe, Chef Claude Tayag brought home the people’s choice award for the country.

Beginner’s luck? Probably not. His dish looks amazing. We can totally see why it was a hit.

The 8th Embassy Chef Challenge, featuring 17 chefs from around the world, was held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on May 25. The international culinary event was attended by the diplomatic community in Washington DC.

The attendees had an opportunity to choose their favorite dish in the event. Their votes, along with the votes from social media, helped chef Tayag win the people’s choice award.

Bringhe is a popular Kapampangan dish similar to paella.

Chef Tayag’s version was made with heirloom Cordillera rice, dried mango, milkfish, and pili nuts. His secret ingredient? His special taba ng talangka (crab fat). It was served with a special cocktai from Enzo Lim.

The other winner of the night was chef Creig Greenridge of the Carribean Island of Barbados who took home the judges award.

Congratulations, chefs!
