Alleged NPA members attack Davao Oriental police station

On Sun, May 29, suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) attacked the Sigaboy Police Station in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental. They abducted the town police chief and wounded a policeman.

The attackers who swooped down on the police station at around 8pm. They were on board an Elf truck and two pickup trucks and immediately fired at the facility. They then abducted the town police chief, Chief Insp. Arnold Ongachen.

“Officers manning the station fought back but were overwhelmed as they ran out of ammunition, the police official said. A policeman, PO3 Johnray Cinco, was wounded in the firefight,” reports Frinston Lim in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Meanwhile, an ABS-CBN News report on the same incident claimed that two people were killed in the encounter. The said report didn’t give any more details about the casualties.
