SUV abandoned in Sta. Mesa yields PHP50M worth of shabu

If you’re a drug dealer, your happy days are believed to be numbered.

At around 2am on Thu, Jun 2, members of the Manila Police District (MPD) came upon a Honda CRV (license plate no. RFC 205) that was abadoned along the Zamora Street-Sta. Mesa, Manila interlink bridge.

“Authorities used a remote rigging kit to open the vehicle and spotted a suspicious multicolored sack inside. As it turned out, the sack contained 10 kilograms of crystalline substance believed to be metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth an estimated PHP50 million,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Manila Bulletin.

The report noted: “After a K9 dog made a sweep around the vehicle followed by another check by members of the explosives ordnance division, the police officers finally examined the sack that yielded 10 pieces of gold colored plastic packs labeled as Guanyinwang refined Chinese tea. Each plastic pack, however, contained one kilo of the crystalline substance that resembled shabu.”

The police are speculating that “the suspects may have opted to abandon the vehicle and its contents because of checkpoints at both ends of the bridge.”

The packs of suspected illegal drugs were  eventually sent to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for further testing.

Menwhile, the MPD is trying to track down the suspects.
