Vatican reiterates that Lipa Marian apparition has no “supernatural origin”

According to stories, the Virgin Mary appeared to a Carmelite nun in a monastery in Lipa, Batangas, in 1948.

The apparition was supposedly followed by a shower of rose petals that bore images of the Virgin Mary and Jesus.

However, the Vatican has issued a decree stating that the Marian Phenomenon in Lipa has no “supernatural origin”.

According to GMA News, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Roman Curia sent a communique to the Lipa Dioces to reiterate Pope Pius XII’s 1951 ruling which stated that there was no miracle.

The Vatican also advised that studies on the phenomenon should be stopped.

This is in reaction to Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles declaration last year. He said that the phenomenon was “worthy of belief.”

In an interview, Arguelles said that he will abide by the decision of the Holy See. However, he encouraged the people of Lipa to continue with their devotion.

“We should not stop our devotion. Nobody should stop that. Even the Pope would not stop that,” he said.
