Kris Aquino was top Robredo donor at PHP30.8m

In showbiz circles, Kris Aquino is known for being an extravagant giver and it looks like her generosity extends to politicians as well.

The actress, TV host and youngest sister of the sitting Philippine President was the biggest contributor to the successful vice-presidential bid of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.

“Yes, for me this fight was personal. IT WAS FOR MY MOM’s MEMORY. Kaya binigay ko ang lahat for VP Leni. Ganoon ako pinalaki, nakikipaglaban ng buo ang puso! Thank you God for answered prayers! CONGRATULATIONS to my VP, my inspiration!” she said after Robredo’s victory.

Robredo’s statement of contributions and expenditures (Soce) showed Kris gave PHP30.8 million to Robredo’s campaign.

The money was given in four installments, including three donations of PHP10M each.

Among the vice presidential candidates, Robredo was the biggest spender. She spent over PHP418 million, entirely funded by contributors.

Kris Aquino’s sister Viel Aquino-Dee also contributed PHP1 million to Robredo’s campaign, reports ABS-CBN News Online.

Other big names in the list were Eduardo Borromeo Cu-Unjieng, Peter Garucho, Jose Baltazar Buenaventura, Wellington Lim, who gave PHP10 million each; Harvey Keh, who gave PHP5 million, and Lisa Gokongwei, PHP200,000.
