Mandaue’s most wanted drug suspect surrenders because of Duterte

There was neither a shootout nor an entrapment operation.

This guy surrendered allegedly because he feared the wrath of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte, who has been vocal about fighting crime and drugs.

Mandaue City’s most wanted drug pusher turned himself to city police on Wednesday night, ABS-CBN News reports.

Pablito Loberanis, a resident of Barangay Paknaan, also turned over to the police his gun, ammunition, and a small sachet of suspected shabu.

At the time of his surrender, Duterte was at a nearby restobar in Mandaue City, in a private meeting with businessmen and political leaders.

Duterte called for citizens to arrest drug traffickers and shoot them if they resist. He offered a generous reward for those who can help him in his war against drugs.

The incoming president will assume office at the end of June.
