Viral: Cockroach found in pregnant woman’s pares meal

In some parts of the word, a cockroach is considered a delicacy, but when it is an unwelcome addition to a pregnant woman’s lunch, it can cause a hygiene and sanitation row.

Zyann Ambrosio, a reporter for ABS-CBN, complained of a cockroach she found in a pares meal ordered from a fastfood stall at SM City North EDSA.

Baka lumipad lang po,” explained the staff at the fastfood joint.

(“It might’ve just flown into the food.”)

Because Zyann is three months pregnant, she is worried about the possible effects of the unsanitary meal. Her three-year-old daughter also tried the pares.

A complaint has already been filed at the Quezon City health department. According to records, the said food establishment had already violated sanitation guidelines last month.

Dapat hindi na siya nag-ooperate. Dapat hindi na siya ina-aallow ng management as a tenant na nag-nenegosyo siya doon at nag-tititinda ng pagkain,” said Dr. Verdades Linga, QC Health Department chief.

(“They shouldnt allow the stall to operate. The management shouldn’t allow the tenant to conduct business and sell food.”)

The QC health department took this opportunity to remind the public that a business permit is not the same as a sanitary permit. A sanitary permit is only given to establishments which meet the standards of the Health department.

Food establishments are warned to keep their kitchens and surroundings clean.

Neither the food establishment nor SM City have issued a statement about the incident.
