Beep, beep! BGC Bus now accepts Beep cards

Great news, guys: You can now use your beep cards on BGC buses. No more stuffing your hands in your pockets to frantically look for loose change. Say goodbye to barya lang sa umaga.

AF Payments, Inc. (AFPI), creators of the Beep cards now used by Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT), released a statement this week to announce their new partnership with Bonifacio Transport Corporation, operators of the BGC Bus.

“We are excited to announce this integration because this gives our BGCitizen commuters more convenience in their daily commute,” BGC Bus general manager Jun Galvez said in the statement.

In case you’re wondering, yes, fare is still P12. And now these Beep cards can be bought at the Ayala and Market! Market! terminals of the BGC Bus and topped off at the same terminals and selected Bayad Centers around the metro.

In the same statement, AFPI President and CEO Peter Maher said, “BGC Buses serve thousands of commuters daily and our goal is to be able to provide them with a reliable and efficient payment system, especially those who hop from the MRT or the LRT to the bus.”

With this development in mass transport, we’re now one step closer to a centralized ticket/card system for public transportation. And pretty soon we’ll be singing that Alanis Morissette tune, “‘cause I got one hand in my pocket and the other one is holding a Beep card.”
