Stolen shoes and ‘poison oil’: Ms. Philippines-Earth 2016 Imelda Schweighart claims bullying

Who knew becoming a beauty queen would be this difficult?

Imelda Schweighart, in an interview with Armin Adina of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, revealed that she was bullied during the recently-concluded Miss Philippines-Earth 2016 pageant.

Imelda was proclaimed the winner of the Miss Philippines-Earth pageant which was held at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City on Jun 11.

She even described some of the women in the competition as “vicious.” Harsh!

“I’m a victim of pageant bullying. There were vicious women in the pageant. Everybody hated me,” Imelda said.

Some of the instances of bullying include Imelda losing her pageant heels (she claims they were stolen, and her fellow competitors did not help her find it) and being given “a certain type of oil” by a fellow candidate (who claimed it was a “brain booster”) that got her sick before a preliminary selection with the judges.

Poison oil? OMG.

Imelda even said some of her fellow candidates gave her the cold shoulder throughout the competition — even after she was proclaimed the winner of the pageant!

“Those bullies were psyching me, to weaken me. But I didn’t give in. I had to kill the demons and survive,” she told the Inquirer.

Imelda also claimed former Miss Philippines-Earth winners Jamie Herrell and Angelia Ong experienced the same kind of bullying when they competed in the pageant.

She did say staff of Carousel Production, the Philippine-based company that organizes the yearly Miss Philippines-Earth and Miss Earth pageants, defended and protected her from her tormentors.
