Duterte Spicy Maki served at restaurant in Nova Scotia, Canada

There are people who find some of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s rules tough to swallow. But they may have a different reaction when it comes to a maki that was crafted to celebrate his victory.

Ateneo de Davao University graduate Sol Matalam — who is now a resident of Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada — disclosed to Sun.Star Davao that a restaurant in her area had a very interesting item on its menu.

Apparently, the Hamachi Mura Sushi Restaurant has something called the Duterte Spicy Maki. As most of the restaurants chefs and staff are Pinoys, it’s easy to figure out why the tribute maki was created.

“The Duterte Spicy Maki is made of tuna, salmon, and cream cheese panko topped with chopped salmon, and spicy tuna, tempura sweet potato, red curry sauce, unagi sauce, sesame seeds, and jalapeño. Each serving has 10 pieces and costs C$14.99 (around PHP543.48),” reports Sun.Star Davao.

Matalam and her mother — former ABS-CBN advertising executive Pong Manansala Iosipescu (in photo) — attested that the Duterte Spicy Maki is quite tasty.
