Facebook wants to livestream Duterte inauguration

Somebody’s getting a lot of love from Facebook.

Incoming Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief Martin Andanar met with Elizabeth Hernandez, head of Facebook Public Policy for Asia Pacific, to discuss the live streaming of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration ceremony on Jun 30.

Incoming presidential spokesperson Ernie Abella, businessman Paul Dominguez, media executive and blogger Nic Gabunada, and business development director John Carlo Tria were also present at the meeting.

“Apart from the inauguration, Facebook is also keen in helping the new administration use its site for the governance part of the 16th Philippine president, noting the high level of engagement among social media users in last month’s elections,” reports ABS-CBN News.

Then report noted: “Duterte emerged as the most talked about presidential candidate in Facebook, garnering 64 percent of conversations related to the elections from Nov 20, 2015 to Apr 5, 2016.”
