Long live bacon and hotdogs at the Lazy Bastard!

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — So you’re on Jupiter street on a Friday night and you’ve had a couple of drinks. You’re looking for munchies to fill up your stomach before heading to the next bar, where do you go?

Here’s a suggestion: Try The Lazy Bastard. With a sign saying, “”Bacon and Burgers this way,” this sweet spot offers ridiculously good comfort food like hotdogs and burgers, sinful and all greased-up.

With a seating capacity enough for about fifteen people, the place is no bigger than a shoebox. It comes with neon signs, stool chairs, a chalkboard wall, and a beautiful speakeasy right behind it. It’s no surprise that this hole-in-the-wall is popular with young professionals.

The menu is perfect for a quick meal. Order, snap a photo of your food, eat and go — that’s the ideal scenario.

Alternatively, the goodies can be packed up and enjoyed as take away, but the quality of the food really is better when eaten as soon as served.

So, how’s the food?

Their burger menu is pretty basic. The creations are juicy and flavorful, but the beefy goodness fades in comparisson to the Lazy Bastard’s breakfast sandwiches and hotdog creations, which are the real stars.

Looking at the build-your-own-breakfast menu is enough to clog your arteries.

As the name suggests, it’s a DIY thing. You can choose the “outsides” (think hashbrowns, French toasts, waffles) and “insides” ( longganisa patty, sausage patty, egg, bacon, avocado) just make sure that your heart can handle your creation. Depending on the ingredients you choose, a breakfast sandwich can cost about PHP200-PHP250.

We recommend a longganisa patty, bacon, and overeasy egg sandwiched between two waffles.

They also have a pretty adventurous list of hotdogs flavors with unexpected combinations. They have avocadog (PHP190), kimchi dog (PHP190), and the more conventional sauerkraut dog (PHP180) and chili dog (PHP200).

However, for nights when you’re not clear-headed enough to choose which dog to get, just go with the popular honey-parmesan (PHP200). You cannot go wrong with the sweet and salty taste.

To complete your meal, we suggest an order of onion rings (PHP220) on the side.

Our only complaint about the area is the lack of parking space, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting good food. If you’re gonna spend a night of drinking anyway, might as well just take an Uber.

For those way up in QC, we have good news for you! Come June 24, a branch of The Lazy Bastard will open in U.P. Town Center

And as if you need more reason to be there on opening day, they’re handing out bacon roses to their first 100 customers. If that’s your kind of romance, then show up early and get your hands on their honey-parmesan.
