QC man says sorry for locking up his 3 kids without food for 3 days

It takes more than declarations of love to be a good parent.

A man named Jose Medina was shown in tears after he learned that representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had taken custody of his three kids.

Medina had left his three children — aged three years old, one year old, and eight months old — locked up without any food inside their home in Barangay Milagrosa, Quezon City. According to a TV Patrol report, it was only after three days that neighbors called the authorities after they noticed that the kids were crying and a stink had emanated from their residence.

It turned out that the kids were left on their own. When the authories finally broke into the home, they saw the kids were filthy as they had urinated and defecated in the living room area. They were also starving and dehydrated. They spent one night at the East Avenue Medical Center before DSWD officers took them into custody.

Apart from that, the children had skin rashes and appeared to be malnourished.

Medina said he left his kids because he went to look for his wife, a woman who has a history of abandoning him.

Medina wants his kids back, but DSWD officers are not going to hand them back to him because what he did to his kids could be classified as child abuse. They remained unmoved even as Medina cried his eyes out, saying, “Mahal ko po ang mga anak ko (I love my kids).”

Then again, Medina’s neighbors are not buying his tearful display. One neighbor claimed that he has witnessed how Medina hurts his kids and leaves them unattended.

The kids will be under DSWD custody.
