Italian ‘drug user’ surrenders to CDO cops

Change is coming indeed, if this guy’s reasons for turning himself over to the police are to be believed.

A foreign national from Rome, Italy, surrendered to the authorities in Cagayan de Oro City for illegal drug use, CNN Philippines reports.

Maricris Mulat, Station 1 commander in Plaza Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro, said she was surprised to see a foreigner voluntarily show up during the city’s anti-illegal drug campaign.

Mulat added that the Italian confessed to being drug dependent and said he wanted to kick the habit for good.

According to a Sunstar report, the man surrendered in fear of not being able to spend his retirement days in the country due to his drug use.

The foreigner has been staying in Cagayan de Oro with his Filipina partner and a daughter.

Mulat also encouraged other Filipino drug users to follow the steps of the expatriate.
