Pacquiao confirms he’s back in the game: ‘Nami-miss ko yung boxing’

Now it can be told: Senator Manny Pacquiao has officially come out of retirement from his boxing career. It may be recalled that Pacquiao announced his retirement from boxing almost four months ago. But, as they say, “Old habits die hard.”

When asked why he decided to get back in the ring, Pacquiao said, “Aminin ko ah, boxing is my passion. Diyan ako lumaki, hilig ko talaga yan. Nami-miss ko yung boxing.”

(“I have to admit that boxing is my passion. I grew up with it and I really enjoy it. I miss boxing.”)

Pacquiao added, “Karangalan ko na nagbibigay ako ng honor sa ating bansa. Boxing is my vocation.”

(“It’s a source of pride for me to bring honor to our country. Boxing is my vocation.”)

“With another fight looming (though still not scheduled), Pacquiao is making sure the entire process won’t hinder his duties in the Senate,” reports Paul Lintag on ABS-CBN Sports.

“Ayoko ma-apektuhan yung pagse-serbisyo ko sa taong bayan at [so], for the meantime, e di kumikita ako para sa pamilya ko. Ayokong gamiting livelihood yung pagse-serbisyo ko because what I believe is government is a public service, not a professional business,” Pacquiao explained.

(“I don’t want anything to affect how I serve the people and so, for the meantime, I can earn for my family. I don’t want to make my service to the people my livelihood because what I believe is government is a public service, not a professional business.”)
