BGC’s Valkyrie club cited by PNP for being ‘cooperative’

As if the dance floor at Valkyrie doesn’t already get too crowded on the weekends, undercover cops in civilian clothes will be joining in the fun, too.

“High-end bar owners [in Bonifacio Global City] are ready to sign a memorandum of agreement with Philippine National Police, allowing two to three police personnel in civilian clothes to enter their establishment and conduct surveillance,” reports ABS-CBN News.

This comes weeks after PNP first announced that it will be conducting surveillance operations in high-end bars in BGC as part of the Duterte administration’s war against drugs.

National Capital Region Police Office chief superintendent Oscar Albayalde said that “bar owners are more than willing to let the police conduct their surveillance in order to erase suspicions that they allow the distribution of illegal drugs, particularly party drugs, in their establishments.”

He cited Bonifacio Global City club Valkyrie for being cooperative.

“Yung BGC, particular yung Valkyrie, pumayag ‘yun at nakausap na natin at iba pang bars sa BGC,” he said. (“In BGC, particularly Valkyrie, they’ve all agreed to it.”)

The report noted that the Quezon City Police District “is also meeting with bar owners in its jurisdiction to seek cooperation with the PNP in its operations against illegal drugs.”
