Bullet meant for grandpa kills 5-year-old Dagupan girl

A five-year-old granddaughter of a man included on his village’s drug watch list was killed on Tue, Aug 23, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, after an unknown gunman opened fire at their home.

According to Philippine Daily Inquirer, 53-year-old Maximo Garcia, a former tricycle driver who suffered a stroke three years ago, had surrendered to the police on Sat, Aug 20, after he was told that his name was on the list of drug users in his area.

Three days later, an unidentified gunman opened fire on his house while he and his family were having lunch.

While Garcia was shot and wounded in the stomach and is now recuperating in an unnamed hospital guarded by policeman, his granddaughter, who was was hit on the head, has died.

Garcia’s wife insists that her husband has never been involved in drugs.

Dagupan police chief superintendent Neil Miro thinks drug dealers were behind the attack, according to the report.
